After A Long 9 Months

On November 13, 2016, I made my last post on my blog. Two days prior, my daughter Jennifer was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia and she spent much of the rest of 2016 and several weeks of 2017 in the hospital. In March, she had a bone marrow transplant. It has been a long process but slowly she is getting better.  And as she gets stronger, I will be able to work more hours again. For now, I am being selective in how many jobs I take each month so I can continue to care for her and keep up. Hopefully by January, I will be back full time once again.

I am currently however accepting weddings for Summer/Fall 2018. I also am accepting lifestyle and birth sessions. Contact me for more information.

Once Upon A Holiday |Holiday Baking|

With the Holidays approaching, many will be baking up their holiday treats with their family! I recall when my children were small and we baked and decorated cookies together in the days following Thanksgiving.  Sometimes I think more  cookie dough ended up on the floor and in our tummies than in the oven.  Those times sure go by fast and I wish I had more pictures of those wonderful times together.

Whether you are spending the holidays baking with your children, picking out a Christmas tree, or even gathered all at grandma’s decorating, let So The Story Goes Photography capture those precious moments for you.

A Sunflower Story |Tecumseh Land Trust|

10 Days prior, this field was in full bloom.  A trip back yesterday after going to the Extravaganza Flea Market in Springfield, we found the flowers no longer full of beautiful yellow petals.  Despite the flowers dying off, we got some beautiful images.

When in the area, also be sure to check out Young’s Jersey Dairy.

August-Back To School Photography Special $19.95

Best session price of the year! Because BACK TO SCHOOL is expensive!

So in a few weeks, the school’s hired photography company will come in to take pictures of your children.  Little Billy and Susie will be sat down in front of a blue background and given 30 seconds of camera time. After snapping off ONE picture, they will say “NEXT” and their back to school photo will be done until spring. Unless of course your Little Billie or Susie didn’t smile or blinked, then you will get another 30 seconds in a month or so.

And then you will be sent these photos in a big envelope with an order sheet where you can purchase these prints you really don’t care for and pay a ridiculous price for prints. And for the next 6 months that picture will hang on your wall until you replace it with the school’s spring time 30 second session photo.

Wouldn’t it be nice if you could be there during the session to make sure Little Billy or Susie has their hair combed? Or maybe have a background that isn’t like all the hundreds of other schools kids that came before them? Well here is your chance!

To schedule your August-Back To School Session for the low price of $19.95, click here and we will see you Sunday, August 14 at the Ottoville Park!

The Maag Kids | A Family Story – Lifestyle Session |

Tabitha is one of my daughter’s friends from high school. Over the last few years I have watched as her family has grown size. A couple weeks ago, Tabitha and her husband Ryan have added Avery to their family. I enjoyed meeting her and playing with the boys!

Bryant has grown to like his little sister.  But still is very much mommy’s baby boy.

Brayden is mommy’s little helper.  He met me at the door, and showed me my way in.  When I asked him if I could take his new sister home with me….he said “Yes.”  But to his credit, he was distracted by his movie on tv so he may not know what he agreed to at the time.

And sweet Avery seems to have her days and nights messed up, so she slept most of the time I was there.  She resembles her big brothers while still looking like a little princess.

I think these three will be the best of friends as they grow and into their adult lives.

A Family Story | The Schnipke’s – Ottoville, Ohio |

The Schnipke’s are one of my favorite families I have the opportunity to take pictures of every summer.  Over the years, it has been such a pleasure to get to know Beth & Adam and their three children Quinton, Gretta, and Henry.

Quinton has always been the responsible big brother. He takes good care of his little sister and little brother. When we did Quinton’s little brother Henry’s soccer pictures, Quinton was quick to show his brother how to pose for them.  Wise, smart, and athletic, I never get tired of snapping off a few pictures of him (even though the session was planned for the two younger one’s birthdays and family photos). DSC_2187

Gretta has always been a princess who loves soccer but also can catch her twirling about.  To catch a real smile from her, you better get her to giggle about something, otherwise she will force a cheesy one or give you a completely goofy face. Over the last year, Gretta has grown up so much and come fall she will be headed off to kindergarten. DSC_7141

I think Beth doesn’t mind  girl time with Gretta from time to time however. DSC_1904

I just can’t get over that Henry is 3 years old.  Although he looks so much like his older brother, he has a little orneriness of his sister.  His smile and charm are so captivating, he has nearly everyone he knows wrapped around his little finger. DSC_7066

When you put these three kids together, you get some of the funnest images.  I am never disappointed in my session with the Schnipkes!

5 Day Old Rusty | A Foal Story |

This past Saturday, my friend Dee had shared a picture on her Facebook wall of a foal born four days prior.   Dee’s mom raises barrel racing horses and one of her mares had given birth to a colt.  When I saw the picture,  I  had to ask about photographing the new long legged baby.DSC_2588

Rusty (which is the colt’s barn name) stayed close to his mother when we were close by. He wasn’t too sure why we were so excited to see him and was a bit scared of us. But when we walked away, he would wonder a little further from his momma.

But never too far. And then go right back to her side to get a bit of his mother’s milk.

Thank you for allowing us to come see your new little one!  I hope I can photograph him again as he grows into a strong horse.
